LINGO SCOTT

RECORDING ARTIST. HOST. CREATIVE

Lingo Scott is a multi-faceted artist with a strong connect with music since his childhood steeped in funk, soul, reggae, hip-hop and house sounds. Growing up in East London, he became part of beat-box outfit, BlackPitchCrew, which made regular appearances on pirate stations such as FLAVA FM. Pursuing his solo career, Lingo was soon signed to Headnod Talent Agency as a model/ singer.

In 2006, Lingo made his West End theatre debut in Can You Live Without It (Sex) at the Cochrane Theatre, simultaneously collaborating with music producer S.Chu on a hip hop project. He performed the material at the legendary Deal Real record store and went on to host their weekly, in-store events.

All the while, Lingo Scott was writing and recording with S.Chu, HardFeelings UK, CinningBao and Ste Keyz, experimenting with electro sounds. While performing around London, he was approached by producers EVM 128, Statis Beatnik, and others to remix tracks from the 999 project. The EVM remix of a track entitled Elope proved such a success, it was awarded 'Tip Of The Week' by Huw Stephens, with airplay on BBC Radio 1 among other BBC radio shows.

An extended family member of the Beatnik Soundsystem alongside DJ Nikki (Kelis) and Statis Beatnik, Lingo regularly hosts the FashBash SoundClash parties at Shoreditch House, Queen Of Hoxton and The Hoxton Pony in London’s East End.

An online message exchange between Lingo and Roots Manuva sparked interest from Ovaground Records, France. So began the process of the ‘Cascade’ EP, a collaborative project that sees Lingo write and perform while Ovaground Productions provides the music. ‘Cascade’ EP is an amalgam of alternative R’n’B and soulful beats with elements of indie, trip-hop and pop.

Lingo Scott was in Jamaica during 2018 working with Hype TV Jamaica presenting shows and collaborating with artists and music producers.

During the trip, Lingo shot a music video on a beach in St Elizabeth, Jamaica for his song entitled ‘Break Free’ directed by Rick Elgood (Dancehall Queen dir.).

In 2021 Lingo met visual artist Jorge Luccas. They began collaborating as Jorge and Lingo with a live art performance of live painting, singing, rapping, improvisational vocal expressions and physical movement.

Together they expanded on the ‘Break Free’ theme with NFT digital artworks, physical paintings and live art performances at art galleries and Web3 events including Secret Art Gallery, Diba Art London, OmniDe and NFT SOHO.

Lingo’s forthcoming projects includes new music releases, a new moniker ‘LINGO SOS’, some UK drill songs, a feature on afro-fusion producer DJ Bemi’s new album and a joint alt-pop music project with Tommy Goes Harderrr (Formerly of Mercury-Prize Nominated band Black Star Liner)
